All Inner Island pieces are handcrafted in their studio in the southeast of Ireland, beside John F. Kennedy Arboretum and near the rugged Wexford coastline. Ireland is in every piece they make. Ireland's stunning landscape inspires their collections and how they make them. They strive for beauty, uniqueness and sustainability.
“I spent many years searching for something that inspired me. I dabbled in different careers in different countries but never put a heart and soul into anything, until I picked up a hammer and made my first ring. From that moment I was hooked. I knew instantly that this was it. The thing I was searching for. Im happiest when I’m at my work-bench creating. ”— GEMMA O LEARY
INNER ISLAND was launched in April, 2015 by Jeweler Gemma O Leary. Her journey started through various courses & internships in Canada, Scotland and Dublin. Gemma gained the knowledge and skill needed to realise her dream of starting her own company and creating pieces of quality and beauty. The name INNER ISLAND conveys that each of us has a core sense of self that must be nurtured and protected.
Our Values
We think design integrity and quality are essential, but that you shouldn't have to pay the world to get it. To achieve this, we work on a separate design story for each collection and all our pieces are made by skilled silversmiths in Ireland using the ancient art of metalworking and combining it with modern technologies.
Design philosophy
Gemma is inspired by the world around her, it can come from anywhere. A rock, a child’s game or a window design are a few examples of seemingly mundane items that have led to whole collections. The ethos of the brand is to bring a refined, subtle approach to design, starting with simple shapes and introducing unexpected details, with the intention of creating pieces that will surprise and delight with a modern contemporary aesthetic.
Each collection has its own design story.
